A critically acclaimed pianist with varied repertoire, Ilya Kondratiev is the prize-winner of several renowned international music competitions. Born in Russia, he studied from the age of seven at the Samara College of Music with Victoria Soifer and, from the age of 16, at the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatoire with Zinaida Ignatieva. In 2014 he moved to London in order to further his studies at the Royal College of Music under Vanessa Latarche and Sofia Gulyak.
Ilya performs extensively as a soloist and chamber music player at venues such as the Great Hall of Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory, Gasteig Munich, Palacio de Festivales de Santander and the Palace of Arts in Budapest.
Together with the performing, Ilya is developing his teaching career and in 2019 he was appointed piano professor at the Royal College of Music London.
What has creating art meant to you over the last year?
Creating art always reflects the artist’s vision of the reality or the way to change or transform it. Over the last two years the gloomy times moved me more to explore the perfection of geometric forms and abstract images.
